Cultural and Educational Programs-Upcoming Workshop
Since its inception, the Foundation has worked to honor Mrs. Park's legacy by developing cultural and educational programs that promote the study of human consciousness, support holistic healing of mind, body and spirit and enhance dialogue between the physical and human sciences and the ancient wisdom traditions of the world. To date, the Foundation has focused on group therapy programs that integrate the latest in psychotherapy techniques with spiritual growth as encouraged in the 12-step recovery methodology. In addition, the Foundation supports and sponsors programs to promote awareness and help preserve the rich cultural and spiritual traditions of Tibet. The Foundation is currently developing a series of programs that integrate Buddhism and psychotherapy to promote understanding of the mind-body connection and facilitate healing.

Tibetan Buddhist Monks from Namgyal Monastery are creating a Sand Mandala at the Historic Monte Cristo

Please join us for the creation of a Buddha of Compassion (Avalokiteshvara) Sand Mandala by the Monks of the Namgyal Monastery at the Historic Monte Cristo, 1507 Wall Street, in downtown Everett from April 8-11. The free event is open to the public daily from 10 am to 5 pm.

The Mandala, a Tibetan sand painting, is an ancient art form of Tibetan Buddhism. “Mandala” is a Sanskrit word meaning cosmogram or “world in harmony.” The sand Mandala is carefully constructed from dyed sand particles as vehicle to generate compassion, to realize the impermanence of reality, and to create a social/cosmic healing of the environment.

The Buddha of Compassion Mandala invokes compassion and sensitivity to the sufferings of others and attempt to relieve suffering. It is the realization that we (human beings, animals and the earth itself) are all interconnected. (view flyer)
